Community Consultations

Stirches Renewable Energy Park held two public consultations ahead of the planning submission. The first took place in November 2024, and the second took place in April 2025.

The First Public Consultation

The first public consultation took place on 07 November 2024 at Hawick Town Hall between 15:00 – 19:00. The event was attended by 65 people, comprising elected representatives, residents, tradespeople and local organisations.

Flyers were sent to 5,389 addresses located within 2km of the project centre. Posters were also distributed and an advert was placed in the Hawick Paper ahead of the event to promote the consultation widely. Individual invitation letters were also sent to relevant Scottish Border Council members and other elected representatives.

The first consultation generated public feedback on the proposal and informed the development team on the kind of information they wanted to see presented in the following consultation

The Second Public Consultation

The second public consultation took place between 15:00- 19:00 on 03 April 2025 at Hawick Town Hall. The event was attended by 55 people and included elected representatives, residents, and tradespeople, among others.

Feedback from the first community consultation and ongoing technical studies were used to create an advanced project design. In addition, a set of photomontages were available to aid visualisation of the landscape and visual impact.

Ahead of the second event, flyers were sent to 5,391 addresses located within 2km of the Proposed Development’s centre. Print and digital posters were also distributed and an advert placed in the Hawick Paper. Individual invitation letters were also sent to relevant Scottish Border Council members and Hawick and Burnfoot community councils.

The second public consultation allowed attendees to view the updates to the proposal and share their thoughts on the updated design.
