Second Community Consultation for Stirches Renewable Energy Park

Stirches Renewable Energy Park is located on land north-east of Hawick substation.

The consultation event will take place on Thursday 03 April 2025 at Hawick Town Hall, TD9 9EF from 3:00PM – 7:00PM. The initial consultation was held November 2024, which was well attended and generated valuable feedback from Hawick residents.

Attendees will have the opportunity to review a more detailed design for the site and find out the results of environmental surveys, including ecology, visual impact, noise, and others.

Stirches Renewable Energy Park consists of a solar farm capable of generating up to 30MW of clean energy, powering approximately 8,600[1] households and saving an estimated 5,800 tonnes of CO2 each year [2]. In doing so, it will help to achieve Scotland’s targets of reaching net-zero by 2045.

In addition to supporting the UK’s net zero goals, Stirches Renewable Energy Park will help to improve local ecosystem. Key features of the scheme include protection and restoration of the natural environment by enhancing hedgerows, planting trees and other vegetation. More details will be provided in the Landscape Strategy Plan available at the community consultation and on the project website.
